Canadian songwriter Bruce Cockburn wrote
a song "Rumors of Glory" in which he observes that behind the
pain and fear sketched on our faces "something is shining, like gold
but better: rumors of glory."
What are these rumors of glory? The
knowledge that there is something beyond us, that we exist — indeed
we were created— for something beyond this world ... and beyond our
wildest dreams.
I believe each person was made in the
image of God. But often that glory, that image of God gets hidden by sin,
hardships, substances, loss, choices, abuses and evil. Yet despite the toll
these things place on us, the image of God is still there. I view my counseling
ministry as a collaboration in which we work together....God, client,
therapist...in order to make our way back to what God intended for our
lives. We were created for glory!
"It is only when one's true story
is finally told in all it's painfulness and only in accepting the deepest
truths about ourselves, that real being, real living is discovered. In the
very face of death we find life. Following the cross of suffering is the
resurrection of being." (Author - Ronald Nydam)
“Now we see but a poor reflection
as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I
shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” (I Cor. 13:12)
“To acquire wisdom is to love
oneself; people who cherish understanding will prosper” (Proverbs
19:8)
“The purposes of a man’s
heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding draws them out.”
(Proverbs 20:5)
